ABOUT LAURA BARRETT |
| I am a Licensed Professional
Counselor (NC #3265) and a native Charlottean. So I have seen and
experienced many changes in this beautiful city. I currently live in
Mint Hill with my husband of 25+ years. We have two children: a son
and daughter, both in their twenties. I am also an animal lover!
I have a miniature sheltie named Sugar, a Yellow-Naped Amazon, and a cockatiel.
I tell you this personal information so you will realize
that I have many roles in my life just like you! I'm a therapist, a
mother, a wife, a daughter, etc. Like you, I am challenged with day
to day problems, and I believe that my relationships and life experiences
help make me a better therapist. |

| COUNSELING APPROACH |
|
|
I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my
counseling approach. Because I strongly believe our thoughts
(conscious and unconscious), our feelings, and then our behaviors.
Our thoughts are filtered through our core belief system based on how we
were raised by our parents or primary care givers, all of our expierences,
our friends, teachers, etc. |
